چکیده

where Sd−1 = { u ∈ Rd : |u| = 1 } denotes the unit sphere and σ its surface measure. In particular is σ(S1) = 2π and σ(S2) = 4π. The variable t ≥ 0 is called measurement time and the variable ξ ∈ Rd detector position or center point. In all practical applications these center points are located on a curve or surface and we consider the classical case ξ ∈ Sd−1 here. Moreover, we restrict ourselves to functions f : Rd → R with support suppf ⊂ B, where B = { x ∈ Rd : |x| < 1 } denotes the open unit ball, such that the spherical mean values Rf(ξ, t) vanish for t ≥ 2. As outlined in [3, 1], the function f can be approximated from the spherical mean values Rf(ξ, t), ξ ∈ Sd−1, t ∈ [0, 2], using specific summability kernels. These kernels are families of

Time reversal in photoacoustic tomography and levitation in a cavity

A class of photoacoustic acquisition geometries in n is considered such that the spherical mean transform admits an exact filtered back projection reconstruction formula. The reconstruction is interpreted as a time reversion mirror that reproduces exactly an arbitrary source distribution in the cavity. A series of examples of non-uniqueness of the inverse potential problem is constructed based ...

Fourier Domain Reconstruction Methods in Laser Ultrasonics and Photoacoustic Imaging

Laser-ultrasonics as well as photoacoustic imaging use optically generated acoustic waves detected at the sample surface to image its interior. In laser-ultrasonics, a laser pulse is absorbed at the sample surface generating an ultrasound pulse that propagates into the sample, is reflected at internal structures, and is detected at the surface. In photoacoustic imaging, the source of the ultras...

Universal back-projection algorithm for photoacoustic computed tomography.

We report results of a reconstruction algorithm for three-dimensional photoacoustic computed tomography. A universal back-projection formula is presented for three types of imaging geometries: planar, spherical, and cylindrical surfaces. A solid-angle weighting factor is introduced in the back-projection formula to compensate for the variations of detection views. A method for implementing this...

B-Mode Photoacoustic Imaging using Linear Array: Numerical Study for Forward-Backward Minimum Variance Beamformer Combined with Delay-Multiply-and-Sum

Photoacoustic imaging (PAI) is a promising medical imaging modality which provides the resolution of Ultrasound (US) and the contrast of Optical imaging modalities. One of the most important challenges in PAI is image formation, especially in the case that a linear-array US transducer is used for data acquisition. This is due to the fact that in the linear-array scenario, there is only 60 degre...
